Guangyuan Ruifeng New Materials - Classification of PVC Crosslinking Agents
Category: Crosslinking agent
Release Time: 2020-05-20
Summary: PVC crosslinking agents are mainly used in polymer materials (rubber and thermosetting resins). Because the molecular structure of polymer materials is like long lines, without crosslinking, the strength is low, it is easy to break, and it has no elasticity. The role of the crosslinking agent is to generate chemical bonds between linear molecules, making linear molecules connect with each other to form a network structure. This improves the strength and elasticity of the rubber. The crosslinking agent used in rubber is mainly sulfur, and accelerators need to be added.
PVC crosslinking agents are primarily used in polymeric materials (rubber and thermosetting resins). Because the molecular structure of polymeric materials is like long strands, without crosslinking, they have low strength, are easily broken, and lack elasticity. The role of the crosslinking agent is to create chemical bonds between the linear molecules, linking them together to form a network structure. This improves the strength and elasticity of the rubber. The crosslinking agent mainly used in rubber is sulfur, along with accelerators. So, what are the main classifications of PVC crosslinking agents? Let's take a look.
1、PVC External Crosslinking Agent
So-called external PVC crosslinking agents are added before use and undergo a crosslinking reaction at room temperature, upon heating, or under irradiation. External PVC crosslinking agents are further classified into the following categories: polyisocyanates, polyamines, polyols, glycidyl ethers, inorganic substances, organic substances, organosilicon compounds, benzenesulfonic acid acrylates, organic peroxides, organometallic compounds, aziridines, multifunctional polycarbodiimides, blocked crosslinking agents, and isocyanate crosslinking agents.
2、PVC Internal Crosslinking Agent
So-called internal PVC crosslinking agents refer to monomers that are incorporated into the macromolecular chain during polymerization or added as a component to the adhesive. They can be stored stably and only undergo a crosslinking reaction when heated to a certain temperature or under radiation conditions. Commonly used internal crosslinking agents include olefin monomers such as acrylic acid, hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxypropyl acrylate, methacrylic acid, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, hydroxypropyl methacrylate, divinylbenzene, N-hydroxymethylacrylamide, and diacetone acrylamide.
PVC crosslinking agents are soluble in aromatics, halogenated hydrocarbons, cycloalkanes, acetone, and various alcohols, slightly soluble in alkanes, and insoluble in water. Chemical properties: They are very stable at room temperature and can be stored at room temperature for a long time. The functional group of TAIC is three allyl groups, which have the general properties of aliphatic alkenes, such as various addition reactions, homopolymerization and copolymerization reactions, and Prins reactions.
Under peroxide initiation, TAIC is more prone to polymerization than other allyl groups. When heated above 140℃ in air, it undergoes autopolymerization to become a transparent, hard homopolymer.
