Summary: Polyvinyl chloride resin is a product of polyvinyl chloride after chlorination. Its structural formula is very similar to that of polyvinyl chloride, and it has good solubility, being soluble in many organic solvents such as acetone, and has good adhesion. According to the principle of "like dissolves like" in polymer structure, when selecting adhesives for PVC materials, the structure should be considered similar to that of polyvinyl chloride.

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin is a product of chlorination of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Its structure is very similar to PVC, and it has good solubility, dissolving in many organic solvents such as acetone, and exhibits good adhesion. According to the principle of "like dissolves like" in polymer structures, when selecting adhesives for PVC materials, the structure should be similar to that of PVC. Therefore, CPVC is an excellent adhesive for PVC. However, the solvents in this adhesive, such as cyclohexanone, benzene, toluene, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, are toxic volatile substances that can harm workers and the surrounding environment. Therefore, researchers have used the method of adding modifiers to adjust the viscosity of the adhesive for easier construction, reduce costs, and improve the physical and mechanical properties of the adhesive. Experts have selected PVCW adhesive for the development of an adhesive for modified PVC decorative boards and wood. The main components of PVCW adhesive are chlorinated polyvinyl chloride resin, phenolic resin as a tackifier, and polyurethane as a toughening crosslinking agent. The shear strength of this adhesive at 25℃ is 246 MPa, and the uneven peel strength is 60.8 N/cm². At a relative humidity of 95%～100%, the shear strength is 2.90 MPa, and the uneven peel strength is 60.78 N/cm². Therefore, PVCW adhesive has good adhesion to PVC and wood, with shear strength exceeding that of the wood itself, meeting the requirements of furniture production. (PVC bonding promoter)

Experts have developed a solution-type adhesive for bonding hard PVC pipes, achieving good results. By dissolving chlorinated polyvinyl chloride resin in an organic solvent and adding auxiliaries, an adhesive solution of a certain concentration is formed. This solution softens the PVC surface appropriately, and slight pressure immediately achieves bonding. If fast-volatile solvents are used in the formulation, the curing speed will be faster. Appropriate amounts of coupling agents, thixotropic agents, and fillers are used to improve the adhesive strength and increase its anti-seepage ability. Using flexible polymers, the flexibility of the adhesive can be increased without reducing its strength, avoiding the possibility of pipe movement or adhesive cracking at the joints during installation, leading to bonding failure. An adhesive developed by modifying CPVC with chlorinated EPDM (CEPDM), CPE, and EVA, significantly improves the shear strength of hard PVC board bonding. Using the following formula: CPVC, 100 parts; EVA, 5 parts; CEPDM, 15 parts; CPE, 6 parts, the shear strength can reach 6.3 MPa. Therefore, the performance of the solvent-based adhesive made from EVA, CPE, and the synthesized CEPDM-modified CPVC for hard PVC boards exceeds that of similar domestic products, expanding the application of the new polymer chlorinated ethylene propylene rubber. Using chlorinated polyvinyl chloride resin and polyvinyl chloride resin as the adhesive, and modifying the adhesive with dibutyl phthalate plasticizer and alkyd resin. Different boiling point solvents and fillers are used to meet the construction process requirements, resulting in a sealant adhesive specifically for PVC pipe leak prevention. The solid content of this adhesive is ≥65%, the sealing pressure resistance test is ≥0.1 MPa, the tensile bonding strength is ≥2 MPa, and the appearance is free of mechanical impurities and unmixable hard lumps. This sealant has similar properties to imported plastic steel putty, but its cost is only 1/25 of the latter. Practical applications have shown that this sealant adhesive has excellent acid, alkali, and water resistance. (PVC bonding promoter)
