Genuine leather refers to natural leather, made from animal hides. Artificial leather refers to synthetic leather or other leather-like materials, which are actually products artificially synthesized from basic chemical raw materials. 1. Natural leather is irregular in shape and uneven in thickness. Its surface often has some natural imperfections, light or heavy, and its surface smoothness varies. The abdomen is generally loose, and the full-grain leather has obvious pores and textures. The lining generally has a nap. Synthetic leather has a uniform thickness, smooth surface, no natural defects, uniform pores and textures, and generally no nap on the lining. 2. For finished leather products, it is difficult to distinguish between genuine leather and artificial leather, especially for small-area, tightly structured leather products that cannot see the inside. The identification method for these products is: First, look at the appearance. If the texture is uniform, undamaged, without coarse textures, and without any defects, it may be artificial leather; while the texture of leather has some differences, especially the difference between the main and secondary parts of the leather product should be more obvious. Then carefully observe the pore distribution and shape; natural leather pores are numerous and deep, slightly inclined; while pores that are shallow and vertical may be synthetic leather-modified leather. In addition, from the cross-section, the cross-section fibers of natural leather have their own characteristics, and the thickness of the fibers varies in each layer. The fibers of synthetic leather are basically uniform in each layer, and the surface layer is plastic-like.

3. Water drop test: Natural leather is clearly more water-absorbent, while artificial leather may not be.

4. Tensile and elasticity test: Natural leather has good elasticity and tensile strength, while artificial leather does not.

5. Blowing test: You can blow air with saliva towards the back of the leather. If there is leakage on the front, it is because genuine leather has this "reverse prevention" property. When you wear leather clothing, the cold protection effect is very obvious, and it also forms good breathability, which fully reflects the value of genuine leather. 6. Visual identification method: First, distinguish from the texture, pores, etc. of the leather. On the surface of natural leather, you can see that the texture and pores do exist, and they are unevenly distributed. The back has animal fibers, and the side section has obvious layers. The lower layer has animal fibers. If you scratch it with your fingernails, the leather fibers will stand up, and there will be a feeling of pilling, and a small amount of fibers may also fall off. The back of synthetic leather shows fabric, and there are no animal fibers on the side. The epidermis generally has no pores, but some have imitation artificial pores, and there may be inconspicuous pores. Some textures are not obvious, or there are relatively regular artificial textures, and the pores are quite consistent.

7. Tactile identification method: Secondly, genuine leather feels elastic. When the leather is bent 90 degrees downwards, natural wrinkles will appear. Bending different parts will produce wrinkles of different thicknesses and numbers, which are obviously uneven. It can be basically determined that this is genuine leather, because genuine leather has a naturally uneven fiber structure, so the wrinkle lines formed are also obviously uneven. Synthetic leather feels like plastic, has poor recovery, and the thickness and number of wrinkles are similar when bent.

8. Odor identification method: Natural leather has a strong smell of fur, and even after processing, the smell is still obvious, while artificial leather products have a plastic smell and no fur smell.

9. Burning identification method: Mainly smell the burnt smell and look at the ash state. When natural leather burns, it will emit a smell of burning hair. The burnt ash is generally easy to break into powder, while artificial leather burns with a stronger flame, shrinks quickly, and has a very unpleasant plastic smell.
