I. Tent Materials

Water-resistant coating only applies to the outer surface with AC or PU. Generally, this is only used for children's tents or play tents; 300MM waterproof rating is typically used for beach tents/sunshades; 800MM-1200MM waterproof rating is used for regular simple camping tents; 1500MM-2000MM waterproof rating is used for mid-range tents suitable for multi-day trips; 3000MM and above waterproof rating is generally for professional tents, treated with high-temperature/cold-resistant technologies. Outer tents have various coatings; camping and mountaineering tents generally use PU, PE, and silver coating, with PU being the most ideal. Furthermore, the waterproof rating of a tent is a dynamic waterproof rating, not a hydrostatic pressure rating. 2500mmH2O only refers to the instantaneous water pressure from rainfall; a 2500mm water column would definitely cause leakage. In my experience, the outer tents of most tents will get wet after prolonged rain; this is where the advantages of a double-layer tent design are apparent, as water droplets on the inner side of the outer tent will slide to the ground.
