II. Introduction to Common Pigment Types

The commonly used colors are red, yellow, blue, white, and black, as well as variations or combinations of these five colors. Pigments used for coloring are generally divided into inorganic pigments and organic pigments. (I) Inorganic Pigments

1. Carbon black: The most commonly used and most effective black pigment. There are many models, and Cabot and Mitsubishi are the main manufacturers for coloring.

3. Iron oxide series: Mainly represented by iron red, iron yellow, and iron black.

4. Chromium series: Mainly represented by chromium yellow, chromium green, and chromium red.

5. Ultramarine series: Sulfur-containing silicate compounds, mainly represented by ultramarine blue.

2. Phthalocyanine series: A class of macrocyclic compounds containing metal elements, mainly blue and green colors. A representative product is Pigment Blue 15:3.

3. Heterocyclic series: This type of pigment has good coloring power and light resistance, mainly red and yellow colors. Representative products are Pigment Red 254 and Pigment Yellow 110.

4. Others: Some organic acid metal compounds, condensed ring ketone metal complex pigments, etc.

Generally speaking, inorganic pigments are more resistant to light than organic pigments, and organic pigments are more vibrant than inorganic pigments.
