In short, the main purpose is to improve the required physical properties. The type and concentration (i.e., content) of the plasticizer are the two main factors that affect these properties.
Different amounts of PVC plasticizer produce different effects: First, when the amount of PVC plasticizer is less than 10 parts, the effect on mechanical strength is not very obvious. However, it should be noted that when about 5 parts of PVC plasticizer are added, the mechanical strength is the highest, which is the so-called anti-plasticization phenomenon. From the above reasoning, it should be clear that generally hard products do not need to add PVC plasticizer or only a small amount is needed. In some cases, in order to improve the processing fluidity, a few parts of PVC plasticizer will be added. However, if it is a soft product, a large amount of PVC plasticizer needs to be added. Because for soft products, the larger the amount, the softer the product.
Therefore, to summarize, the total amount of PVC plasticizer should be added according to the requirements of the softness of the product, the application, the process and the use environment. In our daily calendering process production of PVC film, the total amount of plasticizer is about 50 parts. The blown film is slightly lower, generally about 45 parts is enough. 2. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizer
Selection Requirements for PVC Plasticizers:
(1) Select according to the hardness of the product. For hard products, the amount of plasticizer added is generally 0-5 parts, for semi-hard products, it is 6-25 parts, for soft products, it is 30-70 parts, and for paste products, it is 60-100 parts;
(2) Synergistic selection of main and auxiliary plasticizers;
(3) Select according to the performance requirements of PVC products, such as whether non-toxic, cold-resistant, insulating, antibacterial, biodegradable, etc. are required;
